You may have heard about your legal requirements to maintain the Essential Safety Measures which are the fire safety features installed within your buildings. Previously only owners of buildings built after 1994 were required to prepare annual reports however on the 13th June 2006 the Building Regulations 2006 were introduced and now requires all commercial building owners to have an Annual Essential Safety Measures Report prepared by 13th June 2009. Achieving compliance can take between 6 months to 2 years, depending on the quantity, complexity and cost of having non compliances rectified.
